Report on sessions held on Friday, August 05, 2022 as a part of PGDM Induction Programme 2022-23.

As a part of student development activities and corporate connect, IMDR continuously organizes guest sessions/ webinars by various renowned industry experts.

On August 05, 2022, IMDR Pune organized three sessions as a part of PGDM-Induction Programme 2022-23 . These sessions were organized for PGDM-I and II and the venue was the Amphitheatre of Fergusson College Pune.

Title – Emerging Careers in BFSI Sector

The event started with the session on BFSI Sector. DES’s IMDR Pune has been declared as an Associated College of BFSI Sector Skill Council of India ( BFSI SSC). This association aims at providing orientation to the students on Career and Job Opportunities in BFSI Sector, providing platforms for upgrading required skills, conducting Assessment and Certification on skill based job roles for the students in order to make them industry ready.

For this session, the resource person was Mr. Soumya Ranjan , Head Operations , BFSI SSC , Mumbai. Since 1995 he has been associated with the Indian financial sector. At present he is handling pan India business development for BFSI Sector Skill Council of India by driving the College Engagement Team and Placement Team to match the Manpower Demand of BFSI companies across various with supply of Skilled Resources. He is responsible for promotion of all programs and schemes launched by the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship and National Skill Development Corporation.

In this session explained the purpose of skill development and making people ready for Industry. He discussed the types of financial institutions in India. He highlighted the difference between banking institutions and NBFCs. He elaborately shared his insights on asset management companies as well as liability management companies. He shared information about various career opportunities in the financial sector, such as equity research, assets management, credit risk management, investment analysis, insurance sector, fintech etc.
