IMDR Convocation 2019. Chief Guest- Mr. George Varghese, CEO Indian Express.
“Believe in yourself and your potential. A strong sense of self-worth is more important than personality or pedigree,” said Mr. George Varghese CEO of Indian Express. He was addressing diplomates and students at the 44 th convocation ceremony for the PGDM batch of 2016-18 of the Institute of Management Development and Research (IMDR), Pune on 16 th February 2019.
He urged students to inculcate humility as a tool for career success. He shared with the gathering that humility is about “thinking of yourself less, not thinking less of yourself”. “Your mindset determines how much of your potential you can tap. Don’t be afraid of risks and making mistakes,” he said, urging students to adopt a ‘growth mindset’ and step outside their ‘comfort zone’. He asked students to “set small goals, learn new skills and keep a journal of day to day experiences”.
He advised students to maintain a ‘brag-sheet’ of their achievements which can help motivate them in trying times. “The bonds formed at the institute are truly valuable” he said referring to his sojourn at IMDR and bonds with fellow students and faculty. He declared emotionally that many of the incidents in his personal brag sheet are about IMDR.
Mr. Neel Kulkarni was awarded ‘Best Outgoing student’ of the batch of 2016-18.
The ceremony was chaired by Shri Sharad Kunte, Chairman, Governing Body, Deccan Education
Society (DES). In his address, Shri Sharad Kunte said that IMDR is proud of its students who are
catalysts of change in work organisations.

Chairman Shri Mahesh Athavale and Dr. Shikha Jain.
