Alumni Meet 2013
The annual alumni meet of IMDR, Pune was held this year on the 28th and 29th of September. The alumni meet started with a symposium at the institute’s auditorium where a panel of experienced professionals from the alumni had come to talk about “Innovation for Survival and Growth”
The panel was headed by Mr. SanjeevVaze, until recently general manager with the Premier Travels, who is an alumnus of the 1979 batch and Mr. SrinivasDusi, currently HR business partner with Sandvik Asia (alumnus of 2005 PGDHR batch). Both of them addressed eager and young students and alumni gathered for the meet.
Each speaker brought to the table their wide experiences about how the Innovation is needed in such a heavy competition that we see nowadays inorder to survive.
The first speaker, Mr. Sanjeev laid the foundation of the discussion explaining the importance of the innovation. He emphasized on the fact that how firms cater to the consumer’s attention and how innovation helps in order to achieve it. He neatly explained how innovation had helped various companies to survive in the recession on the account of the innovation that they had implemented. He gave examples of Apple, Google, Nokia, Pureit and DHL to prove that how companies have succeeded because of the innovative thinking.
The second speaker Mr. Srinivas spoke about how recession in today’s time is looked at as an opportunity unlike the previous years and what strategies companies use for their survival during such crucial period. Both of the panelists brought their rich experience in the corporate world to the symposium. They also answered the various queries asked by the current students.
After the symposium was over, it was time for the cultural event, and the current students of the institute had put together a truly cultural spectacle, which included dances, songs, skits and stand up act. A skit performed on a social cause also received huge applause from students, faculty members as well as the alumni. IMDR faculty member Dr. Kalyani Bondre performed a fusion blending Indian classical melody with western beats. Prof. BalajiReddie also sang a beautiful Hindi-English fusion song. The programme ended with dinner.
The meet continued on Sunday morning with informal discussion session in the auditorium where alumni shared their experiences past their stay at IMDR. They gave valuable tips to the current batch about how to work in the industries, how to cope with the various pressures that one has to face after joining the industry, how to strive for the improvement and excellence. They also solved various doubts that students had in their mind. The event finally concluded with the delicious brunch.
