Convocation @IMDR 2017

The 42nd convocation ceremony was held at IMDR Pune on Saturday 11th March 2017 to award AICTE approved Post Graduate Diploma in Management to students of the 2014-16 batch.  The convocation ceremony is an annual event on the campus and witnessed a large turnout. Hon’ble Shri Justice Dilip G. Karnik, retired Bombay High Court Judge was the chief guest for this function. While addressing the students on the occasion, Justice Karnik spoke at length about interpretation of justice for a judge and for common man. He said that there are three ways by which justice can be given, first is according to law but many a times meaning of the law is uncertain, second is following literal meaning of law, which is read word by word and is grammatically correct and third is understanding the evil which legislators want to cure by passing the law which is also called as Mischief Rule

The function was chaired by Prof. Anand Bhide Secretary Deccan Education Society (DES), Pune, the welcome address was given by Dr. Deepak Roy, Director IMDR and Shri Mahesh Athavale, Chairman of the Local Managing Committee of IMDR delivered the vote of thanks. The programme was attended by Dr. Smt. Savita Kelkar, Member Local Management Committee of IMDR, Visiting Faculty and Parents of Diplomates.

Two special trophies have been instituted by the PGDM class of 1994 to honor the memory of their classmate, Jaideep Shivdasani, who passed away in an accident in Mumbai. Jaideep was working with Telco and his glorious career was cut short by fate.

He was a very good student and a keen sportsman.  The trophy is therefore being awarded to a student who has performed well in both academics and sports / extracurricular activities.

The Chetan Shah Trophy for the Best outgoing student who has shown organizing talent.

Two prizes for Young Professional Prize & a trophy were instituted by the class of 1985 in memory of their classmate, Vijay Hathiramani. The winner is selected on the basis of conduct, curricular performance, organising capacity and professional competence.
