The Annual Convocation is an event of great sanctity both for the Institute as well as the diplomates who are passing out through its portals. The event marks the culmination of a beautiful association between the two.

The 17th Annual Convocation ceremony which took place from 4.00 P.M. onwards on Sat. the 23rd Feb. 2008 at the IMDR quadrangle was no exception.

Chief Guest's speech

The Chief Guest for the function was Mr. Vivek Sawant, Director of the Maharashtra Knowledge Corporation Ltd, Pune (MKCL) and the Chair was Mr. Ajit Patwardhan, Chairman of the Deccan Education Society (DES). Mr. S. B. Pandit, Chairman of the Local Managing Committee of IMDR and Prof. A. B. Bhide, Secretary of the DES were guests of honour.

Prof. Ajay Nagre, Director-in-charge, IMDR gave a brief report of the happenings on the campus over the last academic year. Mr. Sawant dwelt upon the challenges facing the diplomates and spelt out the qualities required of them to meet those challenges.

He also launched the newly designed web site of IMDR.

The diplomates received their awards under a golden setting sun amidst the sanctimonious recital of the Saraswati vandana and Pasayadan from the historical Marathi text Dnyaneshwari.
